1. What would you like to see the Town Council accomplish?
To BETTER embody and REALIZE the desires of our NEIGHBORS (residents and businesses) in unincorporated La Crescenta/Montrose. As has been noted, portions of Foothill Blvd could use beautification; the one-mile median is a $1 million start: look at La Cañada, the intimacy of Montrose’s shopping district, and the Glendale portion of the Crescenta Valley. Also, with four kids who are six and under, the oldest of whom is a 1st grader at La Crescenta Elementary, I want to fight to IMPROVE all of our SCHOOLS and do RIGHT by our COMMUNITY. We, TAXPAYERS of La Crescenta/Montrose, deserve better LOCAL REPRESENTATION.
2. As a new member of the Town Council, what would be your goals for the next year or what would you hope to contribute to the Town Council?
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE from years at the World Bank, United Nations, and in academia, plus service on Glendale Unified School District’s Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee, Glendale Community College Measure G Committee, previous CBOC membership elsewhere, and six Boards of non-profits for which I serve as Trustee (including Treasurer and Vice-Chair capacities). TO WHOM MUCH IS GIVEN, MUCH IS EXPECTED. As a Cambodian refugee and survivor of war and genocide who lives the AMERICAN DREAM, I share the experience of our neighbors, such as Armenians and Koreans, who know that FREEDOM ISN’T FREE, and whose heritage and contributions enrich our community.
