Councilmember Lisa Griffin (First Alternate)

I am a big fan of the CV Town Council’s community work. Whether it is working with community groups to create the CV Dog Park, or working with neighbors to bring the Crescenta Commons to life, I see these projects as great community building. I would like to see more community outreach working with our schools, and programs like Youth Council, and The CV Drug Coalition.

I would like to be part of a Town Council that creates a plan to best serve students, should the La Canada redistricting of the “Sagebrush area” heavily impact Mountain Avenue Elementary. Since we are all stakeholders in the future of students in area schools right now, the Town Council needs to address the needs, concerns, and ideas of local youth.

I would like to contribute to the Council, and community, through working with GUSD on the continued health, safety, and success of the students in our many elementary schools, middle school, and both high schools. One goal would be to increase the social options for students outside of school. The Fire House, Y Dances, and local sports leagues are wonderful, but additional recreational opportunities are needed for older teens. In recent moth’s three overdose’s nation-‐ wide attributed to the drug known as “Molly” (ecstasy). Continued dialogues and education on the subject (without lecturing) would be an area of focus for me as a member of the CV Town Council.
