Councilmember Desiree P. Rabinov
Ms. Desiree Portillo Rabinov is a Senior Transportation Planning Manager at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority where she has worked for twenty-three years as a lead manager for Transportation Enhancement/Active Transportation bicycle and streetscape grant and implementation program with expertise in Transit Oriented Development along transit stops/stations and a team architect for the SB 375 Sustainability transportation program.
Her volunteer experience spans over twenty five years. She is currently president and founding member of the National Women’s Political Caucus-Los Angeles Metro Chapter. Desiree also serves as an Executive Leader for United Way pathways out of poverty program, a finance committee member to the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance, as well as co-founder of Project Amiga, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting young at-risk women, men and their families through bilingual and bicultural services in education and training. Early in her career, Desiree has also served as National President of Commission Femenil Mexicana Nacional to provide scholarships to disadvantage students and served as a Legislative Analyst for the National Council of La Raza.
