Councilmember Mariam Barnes
has been a local resident of our community for most of her life. She attended Mountain Avenue Elementary School, Rosemont Middle School and Crescenta Valley High. For college, she
commuted from her home in La Crescenta to California State University, Northridge. After college, Mariam focused on building her career as an advertising executive where she worked with several internet startup companies that grew into success stories. In 2010, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start her own recruiting/consulting company with her husband, Paul.
Mariam has always been an active volunteer. Most recently, she ran for council, which launched her career in community government and expanded her scope of volunteerism in our area.
Mariam has been the coordinator for the Youth Town Council alongside Vice President of the Council, Harry Leon. She cofounded a group called The Village, a drug prevention program focusing on drug awareness, and has assisted current Council members with the Scholarship and Prayer Breakfast committees. Mariam also works closely with other groups in our community such as Prom Plus and the Fire House.
