Land Use was one of the original functions of Town Councils when Supervisor Antonovich started them throughout the 5th district. In fact, the 5th district is the only district represented by the LA County Board of Supervisors that have town council’s.

The initial thought behind a Land Use committee on town council was so residents had a much more convenient way to voice concerns if they had opposition or support to a land use issue in the their neighborhood. The Land Use committee for each town council would be an advisory council to the Board, as council members lived in the area they could then communicate the opinion of residents on a land use issue to regional planning without residents having to make the trip to downtown LA.

The CV Town Council Land Use meetings are held the first Thursday of the month @ 6:30 pm at the La Crescenta Library. Any recommendation’s from Land Use are presented to the Town Council at their general meeting held every third Thursday of every month. The Town Council then votes to approve, disapprove or request changes to the Land Use recommendation before it is submitted to regional planning.

In 2014 the Land Use Committee will be taking applications from residents within unincorporated La Crescenta to serve on the Land Use committee. Applicants should have a back ground in building, engineering, architecture or licensed contracting.
